Trip to Nepal
October 2006
Day 19- Ghorepani to Ghandrung
This was a pleasant day. Outside of town is Poon Hill, which is a hill off by itself, from which you can get 360 degree views of the mountains in the area, including Dauligheri (world's 6th highest mountain) and Annapurna I (world's 10th highest mountain). So just about every tourist and porter in town gets up around 5am and heads off in the dark to Poon Hill, about 400M above the town. Everyone watches sunrise on the mountains, then heads back to town for breakfast.
After breakfast, we walked through rhododendron forests and saw Langur monkeys (large white monkeys with black faces) playing in the trees. It was a very pretty day, but a bit chilly. Ram had spoken to his boss in Kathmandu, and he was needed for another trek as soon as possible, so we cut the trip short by one day and I spent an extra day in Pokhara instead.
